Albania-Kosovo trade exchanges continue to remain lower than with Serbia

TIRANA, Nov. 30 – Behind political rhetoric of excellent economic cooperation with Kosovo, trade exchanges between the two countries are almost the same compared to Albania’s trade volume with Serbia and only half of what Kosovo imports from Serbia. While traditional factors due to the isolation and lack of communication between the two Albanian-speaking countries for almost five decades until the early 1990s and the late 1990s Kosovo war that led to its independence from Serbia in 2008 partly explain the situation, the huge almost 2 billion euro investment in the so-called Highway of Nation on both sides of border…
