TIRANA, Mar. 1 – Tirana is the noisiest and loudest city in Albania, with noise pollution alarming and beyond any EU standards, notes a report by the National Environment Agency.
Its latest report also noted how the noise pollution, noise level beyond the prescribed limits of 55 dB during day and 45 dB during night, can cause aggression, hypertension, hearing loss, tinnitus and sleep disturbance.
Data shows that Tirana exceeds the maximum violation of safe noise levels set by the European Union. Other cities such as Fier, Vlora, Korca and Saranda also have higher levels of noise pollution.
Environmentalists have urged authorities to undertake necessary measures that can lead to the reduction of noise levels.
Albania’s National Environmental Agency said that it will continue to monitor pollution levels in ten other 10 cities and will soon publish another report on the noise levels nationwide.
