The construction sites of the tourist ports in Vlora, Saranda and Durres as well as the competition for the Saranda airport will start before the end of the mandate, Prime Minister Edi Rama said during the SP Assembly convened to kickstart the campaign.
Rama added that the construction of the road Milot-Fier, Milot-Muriqan and Milot-Rrëshen will continue, where citizens from Muriqan to Vlora will go without stopping and without being hindered by anyone.
“After a few weeks, the race for Saranda airport will be announced. The third term will be closed with three airports plus the one we have. We will start the tourist port in a short time, so in the spring there will be a construction site, before the end of the mandate, before the elections and we will build a cargo port at the triport and for the fishermen of Vlora. The port of Durrës will become a tourist port. Chrome and coal can not be discharged in the heart of the city,“ -Rama explained saying that the cargo port will be in Porto Romano.
Rama criticised what he called the unfinished business of the Nation’s Highway by promising the quick start, within weeks of the Milot-Fier road, which will be properly secured so that people and animals don’t cross it any longer becoming a source of accidents, as has been the case for 30 years. “We will continue with Milot-Muriqan to complete the blue corridor, which is a European project,” Rama concluded.
Infrastructure projects completing the connection north-south in the coastal area of the region were identified earlier last week by the European Commission as one of the flagship projects that will be supported through the economic and investment plan for the Western Balkans.
