The Parliament of Kosovo approved with 72 votes the new law on providing financial aid to individuals and business for a sum of 560 Million Euro. The proposal of the opposition Democratic Party of Kosovo was well received by the parties in government, making possible an agreement that will help especially those workers that had to leave their job during the pandemic,
and businesses. Vetëvendosja party was against the recovery package, arguing that it is not well stated how the money will be spent by the government, leaving a lot of space for fear of corruption and mismanagement.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister Avdullah Hoti was confident that that the law will help the citizens to fight the economic negative effects of the pandemic, and ensure that many businesses will outlive the pandemic crisis. The recovery package comes in a time where the World Bank estimates that Kosovo economy will shrink with 7,2% during 2020, and when the COVID-19 is continuing to spread all over the country.
