Albania to invest 53.5 billion leks for energy system

TIRANA, Dec. 27 – Albania is expected to investment 53.5 billion leks until 2008, according to the Albanian Electro-Energy Corporation, or KESH. That will be invested for the improvement of the technical infrastructure of the energy system in the country. Out of them 40 billion leks are expected to be foreign investment and only 13.5 million leks from the domestic budget. They will improve the distribution network in the country’s main cities and the rural area with a total figure of 12 billion leks. The transmission sector will mainly be dealt with the rehabilitation of the Drini river cascade and also that of Bistrica River and the construction of the thermo power plant in Vlora.
