In Albania the Postbank is expected to be part Posta Shqiptare, the public mailing company, and will function just like its sister companies in other European countries

Albania will soon start its own postal saving system, which is known as Postbank in many countries, according to officials speaking at the end of the first meeting of the inter-institutional work group to establish the Postbank.
The man in charge, State Minister Genc Pollo said establishing the Postbank will be a huge event not just for the financial sector, but the public in general.
“Just as in Italy and Austria, everyone will have the option of a financial service that includes all types of deposits and payments, with good conditions and low commissions, which today are not always found in the market,” Pollo said.
He added that Postbank will be instrumental to purchasing treasury bills, which are very important to get public funding.
Many nations’ postal offices operate postal savings systems to provide depositors who did not have access to banks a safe, convenient method to save money and to promote saving among the poor. Japan Post Bank, for example, is now the world’s largest savings bank.
In Albania the Postbank is expected to be part Posta Shqiptare, the public mailing company, and will function just like its sister companies in other European countries.
The inter-institutional Postbank working group chaired by Pollo also includes the deputy ministers of finance, economy, justice, integration, the Posta Shqiptare Director General, the Financial Supervisory Authority, the Competition Authority as well as other officials and experts.
