TIRANA, June 12 – German companies view Albania as one of the two most important countries in the region for their investments. This is confirmed by Annete Kasten, the executive director of the German-Albanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Albania (DIHA) in an interview with Deutsche Welle in the local Albanian service. “If we refer to data on the countries in the region, i.e Croatia, Slovenia, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Kosovo, Macedonia and Bulgaria it figures out that Albania is an attractive country for investments for the majority of businesses and is listed second among these South-East European countries with Croatia topping the list,” Kasten told Deutsche Welle. On June 20, the German-Albanian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Albania (DIHA) is organizing the 6th conference of the German-Albanian business which will focus on exports, infrastructure, environment and tourism. “This conference will give German companies a clear picture of the perspective of business in Albania and in the Western Balkan region, and they will have the opportunity to establish concrete contacts,” said Kasten. Two weeks ago, DIHA introduced the findings of a survey conducted with German-Albanian businesses operating in Albania revealing that despite concerns, some 81 percent of the companies continue preferring Albania as a country to do business and would pick it up again to invest again if they were given the opportunity.
