TIRANA, March 7 – Senior official of the state-owned Albpetrol corporation said Wednesday that some 600 personnel had to be reduced from its staff this year in order to prepare itself for further steps toward privatization. Top manager Ilia Fili said that the company had to adapt an appropriate structure like the international ones. Fili said that foreign companies had advanced technology and reduced staff and Albpetrol had to do the same to compete with them. It is expected that some 600 Albpetrol staff will be cut this year and paid a salary for one year from the company, then from the government’s social insurance.
