TIRANA, Feb. 13 – As a response to the emergency situation in the country, leading mobile operator AMC is helping the people in the areas affected by extreme weather conditions in Albania. Some 600 SIM cards, tens of mobiles handsets and thousands of minutes of airtime have been urgently deployed to the Civil Emergency General Directorate, to be handed over to local government and rescue teams in the area. In addition, AMC is providing large supplies of food and clothes that will go to the people of northern and south-eastern districts, severely affected by extreme weather conditions as snow thickness has reached over 2 metres.
AMC technical staff has already taken all necessary measures that mobile communication continues even in the most hazardous conditions. Currently the AMC network is fully functional in all areas affected by the cold snap.
AMC CEO, Dimitris Blatsios, stated that “AMC and its employees are deeply sorry for the difficult situation inhabitants of these areas are in, and they are donating a considerable quantity of food supplies, clothing and blankets, as well as a significant number of SIMs loaded with credit for the people’s communication needs. This is one of the very occasions that businesses should give back to the society, and I invite all other companies to follow in this track and provide relief for people in need.”
