American Chamber of Commerce holds general assembly

TIRANA, Feb. 27 – The Board of the American Chamber of Commerce in Albania held Tuesday the General Assembly Meeting. The General Assembly Meeting is a business meeting of all the Chamber members. A report of the achievements of the AmCham in 2006 and the Chamber plans for 2007 were discussed. The meeting also elected the Vice-President, the Secretary and four Board Members. There were 12 candidates running for those posts. The majority of Board representatives must be American citizens or representative of US controlled firms. U.S. Ambassador Marcie B. Ries also hailed participants. The American Chamber of Commerce in Albania is a private business promotion and development organization, which tries to increase the trade between the United States and Albania, to promote U.S. investment in Albania and improve the Albanian business image in the U.S. and international markets. Being an AmCham Albania member empowers businesses to lobby in a group with leading companies, to extend networking to influential circles and to participate in events tailored to their needs. Through its work and services, AmCham Albania seeks to be the leading representative for U.S. and international business in Albania. Its goals and objectives are to develop mutually beneficial economic relations between the United States and Albania; to develop economic relations with Europe and other economic relations that are intended to be mutually beneficial to the United States and Albania; to promote local economic development and make other contributions in the benefit of Albania and its region; to monitor U.S. legislation and policies that affect the competition of the United States business abroad, especially, but not exclusively, in relation to economic developments in Albania; and to monitor Albanian legislation and policies that affect business and economic development.
