Bulgaria approves pipeline convention

Sofia Dec 24 – The Bulgarian Government after thorough consideration expressed its approval for the AMBO project, official sources said. The later consists in on setting up a system of oil pipelines linking Albania, Macedonia and Bulgaria. Bourgas will be linked to the Albanian coast city of Vlora through the pipeline that will go through the territory of the three countries. The total cost of the infrastructure is 1.2 billion euro and the pipeline will be 870km long. The capacity of the pipeline will be 35 million tons of oil per year. The first declaration for setting up the trans-Balkan oil pipeline was agreed on December 28 2004 by the prime ministers of Bulgaria, Albania and Macedonia.
