TIRANA, July 24 – All citizens applying for licences and permits can now use the online tracking system available at the National Licensing Centre website. The new system inaugurated this week allows each applicant to trace the application procedures online. The system also applies the ‘silence is consent principle’ in case the centre does not provide an answer within the deadline.
Prime Minister Sali Berisha said the National Licensing Centre has turned into a powerful support for investments, investors and business activity in the country. “The process of receiving a permit or license which used to be the most difficult process and absolutely most corrupt, has currently turned into one of the shortest, most transparent and modern services,” said Berisha.
Inaugurated in June 2009 under US government assistance, the National Licensing Centre has eliminated stacks of documents to fill out, and long hours spent trying to get a license, authorization or permit for a business activity.
With its one-stop-shop services and shortened, transparent and fast procedures, the NLC reduces the administrative barriers to free initiative, cuts down the costs related to the licensing process for businesses, and minimizes the level of informality, thus improving noticeably the business climate in Albania.
