TIRANA, Jan. 3 – Turkish-owned Eagle Mobile and ALBtelecom have given their support to the annual Education Ministry initiative by technically assisting the best pre-university students and teachers as part of part of the companies’ social responsibility “Year of Education” campaign.
In a ceremony held on Dec. 23, just before high school students went on their year-end holidays, the two companies part of the Calik Group, donated 25 state-of-the-art technology computers to 25 brilliant senior-high school students of the Matura 2011 state exams, serving as an entrance system to public university.
Speaking at the donation ceremony, Dr. Orhan Coskun, the General Director of ALBtelecom and Eagle Mobile, said that the reward of distinguished students and teachers was an important event. According to him, continuous investments by both companies have enabled the use of the internet in every corner of Albania through a modern technology structure.
“In the future we will invest even more to create further opportunities for internet access. Today, through technology, students can have better access to information and materials needed in education. We are pleased to donate computers to the best 25 students of the State Matura 2011, in order to provide them the facilitation and benefits of the internet service,” said Dr. Orhan Coskun.
During the ceremony prizes were also awarded for the best 2011 teachers.
Corporate social responsibility projects by both ALBtelecom and Eagle Mobile for 2011 focused on education under the slogan “Hand in hand with education”. The two mobile and fixed-line phone companies say they will soon announce the new priority project for 2012.
