It is widely believed Albania has very good laws on the books as part of the country’s efforts to bring its legislation closer to that of the European Union as well as its efforts to meet its other international obligations. Yet, somehow good laws don’t necessarily mean good implementation and the country continues to perform poorly on most political and democracy indexes. Laws and regulations aiming to bring more women into the public life of the country are not an exception to this problem.
