DURRES, Oct. 18 – Durres port reported an 11 percent increase in the cargo figures for the first months of 2006 as compared to the year before. The number of passengers transiting through the port has, however, been smaller. Analyzing the components of foreign trade, the biggest increase is in exports which were 51 percent higher. Imports have also been 6 percent higher. The port of Durres is strategically located at the end of the Corridor 8 route which connects the Black Sea to the Adriatic. About 80 percent of passenger and trade flow runs through this particular port.
