TIRANA, Feb. 4 – The government decided in its last meeting to transfer the ownership of all forests and pastures under the management of the local authorities.
The move will be made concrete during the first half this year, according to Prime Minister Sali Berisha.
Forests and pastures make up some half a million hectares, some of which has been already transferred to the local authorities in the last eight years. The central government hopes that direct ownership will improve the management and maintenance of these properties.
