TIRANA, Jan. 20 – A fuel operator in the region of Berat, southern Albania, has been ordered to pay 1.65 million Euros in fines and late taxes for improper payment of excise taxes. Customs authorities said controls carried out in the fiscal warehouse of ENARVI sh.p.k showed the operator had illegally launched into market 1.5 million tonnes of crude oil and bitumen and had consumed 620,000 kg without paying excise taxes.
Authorities said the company has been ordered to pay 236 million lek, of which 189 million lek in fines and 47 million lek in late excise payments.
Since late 2013, several oil companies have been fined over improper payment of excise taxes.
