TIRANA, Nov.8 – Germany signed on Wednesday a loan deal that will help medium sizes businesses in Albania. The 2.6 million euro ($3.3 million) fund will be used for financing small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) projects. This is a low-interst type loan that is granted by the German German government. The mediator bank that will disburse the amount is the German state-run development bank Kreditanstalt fuer Wiederaufbau (KfW). Before the actual signing of the deal, the German Embassy issued a press statement clarifying that “due to the projects, small and medium-sized enterprises in all sectors from both rural and urban areas will be helped by receiving loans.”
The total financial aid, including technical assistance, in Albania made by the German government since 1988 is estimated at above 370 million euro.
