TIRANA, Jan. 16 – Rene Eschemann has taken over as the new Tirana-based KfW regional director for Albania and Kosovo replacing Ute Rodrian who successfully completed her 4-year term of office, further boosting German development investments in Albania’s water supply, sewerage and energy projects. A former KfW Entwicklungsbank project manager for the energy sector in Albania, Rodrian’s successor is already familiar with the situation in Albania, according to KfW Albania.
Speaking in a meeting with KfW officials last weekend, Prime Minister Sali Berisha said further strengthening of cooperation should focus on private sector financing in the energy, agriculture sectors by introducing microcredit and other financing schemes. Apart from the already priority areas of energy, water supply and sewerage, KfW representatives expressed readiness to cooperate in the undeveloped agricultural sector and introduce new financial schemes.
