IDB finances Orikum water supply, sewerage

TIRANA, April 24 – Orikum Municipality inhabitants and tourists visiting the coastal area in southern Albania will have uninterrupted water supply and a sewage treatment plant. The project will be implemented under USD 16.4 mln financing by the Islamic Development Bank and the Albanian government.
It serves an estimated 15,000 inhabitants in the Orikoum area and 30,000 tourists visiting it in summer, says the Public Works Ministry.
The project cover construction of the water supply system, including construction of estimated 26.6 km of water transmission and estimated 27.7 km of distribution lines in addition to water wells, water intake structures, pumping stations, storage reservoirs (ground as well as overhead), and house connections (meters). Construction of the sewage collection system includes laying of sewerage collection networks comprising estimated 29.9 km of collector mains with manholes and pumping stations. Construction of the Sewerage Treatment Plant with a capacity of 8,000 m3/day for the town of Orikum, villages of Tragjas, Dukat i Ri, and Radhima Coastline
