January customs revenue higher than estimated

TIRANA, Feb.9- Albania’s Customs Office released data last week that show the customs revenue rose by 20.1 percent yearly to 6.5 billion leks ($67.7 million/52.2 million euro) in January. The collected revenue was 23.4 percent above plan, the statement explained.
Increased imports of fuels and beer led to a rise in customs revenue last month, the statement said. The country imported 32,322 tons of fuels, up 16 percent yearly, and 1,535 liters of beer, an increase of almost 64 percent. For this year, Albania plans to collect a total 174 billion leks in taxes and customs duties.
