TIRANA, Oct. 18 – The state run electricity corporation KESH has announced it will launch an itnernationa tender to buy 162.8 million euro of electric energy. That corresponds roughly to 2,206 million MWh of electricity. The tender will open Oct. 27. It aims at meeeting the domestic demand for the whole 2007 year. The purchase will be realized in four stages according to the following schedule:
January – March _ 568,000 MWh
April-June _ 410,600 MWh
July-September _ 530,000 MWh
October-December _ 697,400 MWh
That decision comes when water level at the hydroelectric units in the north is falling by 1cm/hr due to the lack of rainfall. The dry fall season is a worrying factor for a country where energy shortages have often paralyzed normal daily activities in the winter.
