Albania suspends flights to/from Italy due to the coronavirus outbreak

Tirana, March 9 -Albania announced on Monday the suspension of all flights to and from Italy, as the country confirmed the first two cases of coronavirus patients a day ago. 

“Today’s measures include suspending the flights to northern Italy and the red zones until April 3,” Albania’s Prime Minister Edi Rama said during a cabinet meeting.

Albania’s Civil Aviation Authority said in a press release:

“Following the situation in Italy, due to the spread of COVID-19, the measures taken by the Italian government for the quarantine in the north of Italy, as well as preventive measures taken in Albania, in accordance with the directive of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, all the flights (read below) to and from Mother Teresa International Airport are suspended: Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP), Milan Bergamo Airport (BGY), Bologna Airport (BLQ), Florence Airport (FLR), Genoa Airport (GOA), Perugia Airport (PEG), Pisa Airport (PSA), Rimini Airport (RMI), Venice Airport (VCE) and Verona Airport (VRN). 

The Civil Aviation Authority has guided the Mother Teresa International Airport and the Albcontrol Air Navigation Service Provider on taking the necessary measures on suspending the flights to/from the aforementioned airports, until further notice.
