TIRANA, March 31 – The transport ministry has issued a new regulation to discipline the licensing and operation of car services which will also make it compulsory for service owners to provide guarantee to their customers for the repairs they carry out.
Transport Minister Edmond Haxhinasto says the new package will reduce informality and strengthen transport safety.
“Citizens will be provided guarantee for repairs carried out in service points. This will increase the safety of transport,” said Haxhinasto this week.
The new regulation which is expected to enter into force in a couple of weeks envisages car services will have to meet equipment and facility standards and have certified technicians in order to continue operating.
In late 2015, the Albanian government adopted some new measures to curb informality in the road transport by imposing tougher penalties on unlicensed taxi service, car trade and imports and passenger tickets. The measures were taken as part of a nationwide campaign to tackle informality.
