TIRANA, April.10 – The national association of hydro-carbure importers have raised its own complaints abut the controversial law on financial penalties for businesses to be paid prior to any legal contestation. In a statement joining the rest of the business community the association expresses its concern about the potential abuse, the illegitimate law that runs against the constitutional principle. Viktor Nushi, secretary of the association recounts the bitter experiences that this sector of the economy has had with the taxation authorities and that have undermined the confidence in their respective relationships. The abuse can be expected from both political influence but also from simple unfair competitive pressure, Nushi explained. The debate abut the law, despite its principal approval in the parliament, has been fierce during all the previous week.
Excise tax changes were also contested by the Association which proposed instead a compensation for companies in need. The tax was lowered from 13 lek/liter to 8 lek/liter costing the budget a 700 million lek loss.
