TIRANA, June 14 – The Ministry of Interior held a meeting this week Tuesday on the preparations of the authorities for the tourist season.
Albania considers tourism one of its main sources of income. The government pays much attention to the Albanian coast, its tourists spots, archeological tourism and also mountainous tourism.
Minister Bujar Nishani outlined clear goals for police and all the other relevant authorities.
Authorities were urged to pay special attention to supervision of tourist activity throughout season. As a cautionary example, Nishani noted the death of a Czech tourist who had died while canoeing in an area that was not suitable for the sport.
They also called for special attention to water motorbikes which have been the cause of some deadly accidents in the last years.
Nishani also urged greater cooperation between the central and local authorities, as well as special attention to the control of traffic on the national roads and respect of the traffic rules by the drivers.
