Product Price Index falls in second quarter

TIRANA, Oct. 11 – The Institute of Statistics said Wednesday that during the second quarter of 2006 the PPI reached to 134.0 against 1998, marking an annual decline of 0.1 per cent and an increase by 0.2 per cent against the previous quarter 2006.
The “Forestry, logging and related services activities” include only the “Forestry and logging” activity, which had a decrease by 4.5 per cent against the previous quarter. This decrease was seen in April and it is the result of the decrease prices of firewood by 4.5 per cent.In the “Mining and quarrying” sector there was marked an increase by 6.8 percent in the “Mining and quarrying of energy producing materials” activity. It may be mentioned the increase prices of crude oil by 5 per cent.”Manufacture of food products, beverages and tobacco” activity decreased by 2.4 per cent. In this activity, it may be mentioned the decrease of some products such as refreshing drinks by 11.5 per cent, canned vegetables, marinades by 8.7 per cent, wineby 4.7 per cent. The “Manufacture of textile and textile products” activity had an increase by 4.8 per cent. It had an increase of products like velvet, jeans and velvet trousers by 0.4 percent, linen trousers for women and children by 0.2 per cent. The “Manufacture of chemical products” sector had a decrease by 1.9 per cent compared to the previous quarter. It had a decrease of detergent by 7.4 per cent. The “Manufacture of other non metallic mineral products” sector had an increase by 2 per cent. There was increase of lime by 6.7 per cent, window and stair ledge, grave slabs by 4.0 per cent, blocks or holed bricks, clay by 0.7 per cent. “Manufacture of other machinery equipment” increased by 2 per cent. It had an increase in window, stair ledge, grave slabs by 4 per cent, block or holed bricks, clay by 0.7 per cent. “Manufacture of electrical machinery and optical equipment” increased by 6.9 per cent with manufacture of electrical machinery and apparatus by 7.3 per cent. “Manufacture of furniture” increased by 6.9 per cent with increased prices for wooden sleeping room furniture, double bed, children’s bed by 8.9 per cent, sideboard, cupboard, shelves by 0.4 per cent.While the trimester price index changes in the other groups vary from – 2 per cent to + 1 per cent.
