Small hydropower station offered by concession

TIRANA, Feb. 13- Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy Genc Ruli came out Tuesday to announce the launch of the concessions for small hydropower stations producing up to 10 MW. The government has completed the legal context for such a move. The concession will be organized in the form of a tender where authorities will evaluate bidders’ best capabilities and offers to update and produce electricity. Then the produced electricity will be sold to the KESH. Concessions will last 15 years and they will be linked with the national electricity network.
The government will also give by concession the Fieri thermo power plant in the context of the Albania, 1 euro project. It is expected that the company to take it by concession should update technology and increase production up to 200 MW, which is double that of the new one that is to be built in Vlora.
