TIRANA, March 15 – The Ministry of Health announced that 9 new cases with the coronavirus were confirmed in the last 24 hours in Albania, bringing the total number to 51.
Four new cases were confirmed at the ‘Shefqet Ndroqi Hospital’ in Tirana on Tuesday, including three nurses and one doctor in addition to the two cases confirmed on Sunday and the first confirmed case in Durres.
A total of 563 suspected cases have been tested so far, 51 of which were positive. Out of the patients under treatment, 20 are currently in the Infectious Disease Hospital and three are in intensive care, one of whom is being assisted by a medical ventilator while the rest are in stable condition.
The Deputy Minister of Health, Mira Rakacolli announced that Albania has also requested technical and medical assistance from China to cope with the situation, while chronically ill people who do not have authorized vehicles to go to hospitals will be assisted by the Municipality.
