DURRES, April.22 – The normal activity of ships and passengers passing through the Durres port, the largest one in Albania, will go on uninterrupted by the measurements that British “Clyside Surveys Ltd” is doing in the entrance of the port. Some of the works will need some ships to dislocate and move but the adjustments will be made in such a way a not to hurt daily trade activity. The closure of the Durres port would bring unaffordable economic costs to the country hence in cases of real need only parts of the port will be closed. The port authorities explained that last week specialist form the British firm started with the fourth canal which currently does not host any commercial ship. All the involved actors have been previously informed about the operations and are prepared. The authorities will free the way for the company to measure the depths and the conditions of the port part by part. “Clyside Surveys Ltd” took over the project left by the Danish “Rohde Nielse”, which left interrupted an investment of 3 million euros. The Danish company withdrew given some coordination problems with local authorities as well as after it found some army mines at the port water basin.
