TIRANA, Sep. 12 – Albania also commemorated the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks in the United States– reaffirming its support to Washington’s global war against terrorism. In Tirana the US embassy opened a special exhibit of photographs entitled, “Here is new York – a democracy of photographs,” to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11. President Bamir Topi, Prime Minister Sali Berisha, Speaker of the Parliament Jozefina Topalli, and former President Rexhep Meidani gave remarks. All Albanian leaders tried to express their commitment to the war against terrorism and pledged the country’s continuous support to any international peacekeeping operations Washington may hold. The exhibit contains nearly 500 photographs, taken by professional photographers and average citizens, during and immediately following the attacks on September 11, 2001. The exhibit will be on display at the Museum of National History from September 12 – 26.
