Germany lends Albania 5 million Euro to improve canal networks in Pogradec

TIRANA, Feb. 6 – Germany loaned Albania 5 million Euro on Monday to help improve the country’s drinking water supply and rebuild an urban canal network in eastern Pogradec. That will be a big service for the protection of the environment of Ohrid Lake. That is the second part of a big project that has started since last year. The completion of the canal network will be accompanied later with another project for a landfill. The money was funded from the German Bank for Reconstruction and Development (KfW). the first stage of the project was funded with 9 million Euros. Germany has been one of the main donors to post-communist Albania, contributing more than 330 million Euros to the Balkan country’s development.
