TIRANA, Feb.2 – The Finance Ministry signed last week a rescheduling agreement for Albania’s $1.25 million (960,000 euro) state debt to the Polish government. This debt comes as a result of accumulation of obligations from merchandise trade by the Albanian government in the period between 1986 and 1990. Mr. Artur Tomaszewski signed on behalf of Poland. Albania is now due to repay the debt by March 31. Once it has complied with this new date the Albanian state will not be obliged to pay $708,000 interest on it, according to the statement made available from the ministry. The rescheduling of the debt to Poland is part of a government program for repayment of all state debts accumulated before the 1990s, the ministry added.
