Governing Democrats win post in partial elections

PASKUQAN, Feb. 25 – Fatos Rexha of the governing Democratic Party won a parliamentary post at the partial elections in the commune of Paskuqan, not far from Tirana, held last Sunday. But the turnout was only 35 percent of possible voters. There were no violent incidents during the voting day. Fatos Rexha received 4,159 votes while his rival from the opposition Social Democratic Party Gjin Prengaj counted 2,836 votes. The Democratic party has won all partial elections since the July 2005 general elections.
