Tirana’s Skanderbeg Square to be renovated

TIRANA, April 12 – A two-day competition to display project proposals for the renovation of Tirana’s Skanderbeg Square was held last week.
The Belgian studio, 51N4E bvba, was declared the winner of the competition, which included 19 applicants.
Voting by the public, however, resulted in the studio of Daniel Libeskind Architects LLC, (New York – USA) as the winner.
The competition was made possible through the financial support of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Amir of Kuwait.
The goal of the competition was to select the best proposal for the implementation of the Scanderbeg Square Rehabilitation. The wining proposal would most closely follow the guidelines given by the Master Plan of Tirana’s City Center.
