Topalli urges Rome ratify NATO protocols

TIRANA, July 27 – Parliament Speaker Jozefina Topalli visited neighboring Italy to meet with top officials and also receive confirmation of a visit from her counterpart.
Topalli met with senior government official Gianni Letta who spoke of Balkan development with much interest.
Topalli learned that Italian Parliament Speaker, Gianfranco Fini, would visit Albania in September.
Topalli urged Rome to speed up efforts to ratify the NATO protocols signed by Albania and Croatia, the last formal step before receiving full membership into the alliance.
She also praised Italy’s support of the country’s euro-Atlantic integration efforts.
Topalli took part in a roundtable Finni held with many speakers from the region.
During the visit, Topalli also met with Serb counterpart Slavica Djukic-Dejanovic. (Tirana Times Staff)
