TIRANA, Oct 2 – President Bamir Topi decreed the nomination of Anastas Duro at the post of the labor minister.
Prime Minister Sali Berisha reshuffled his Cabinet, replacing the labor minister following internal disagreements in his coalition political party.
Berisha named Anastas Duro as the new minister of Labor, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, a post that has been held by the Human Rights Union Party mainly representing ethnic Greek minority population in the governing coalition.
Recently outgoing Minister Kosta Barka entered into disagreements with his party’s leadership, namely his leader Vangjel Dule, which resulted in his move from the post.
Barka’s secretary general Andrea Marto was fired. But it seemed that Marto was so close to Dule that he managed to move Barka from the post.
Berisha resisted the first offer from Dule to replace Barka with Marto, asking for another alternative who resulted to be Duro.
The reshuffle was decreed by Albania’s president but it should also be voted by parliament, where Berisha’s Democratic Party and its coalition allies hold a comfortable majority.
