TIRANA, Feb 18 – The whole of Albania, especially its capital Tirana raised flags and held a number of ceremonies to celebrate the independence of neighboring Kosovo.
Tirana’s main Boulevard Martyrs of the Nation was decorated with a great number of flags from Kosovo and Albania.
Many activities were organized by local authorities in downtown Tirana like the Freedom Walking.
Flags were distributed among people taking part at these activities and also to passers-by. A concert was held and the Newborn sign, identical to the one in the Kosovar capital Prishtina was also placed at a main street to be signed by local people.
Albanian and Kosovar personalities were joined by western and American diplomats in these ceremonies.
The Kosovar Ambassador to Tirana Gazmend Pula held a party inviting all local and foreign personalities.
All Albanian top officials including the president, parliament Speaker, prime minister and ministers sent letters of congratulations to their Kosovar counterparts.
