TIRANA, April 15 – Albanian authorities claimed that tourism revenue in 2008 was 20 percent higher compared to a year ago.
Authorities said the revenue totaled to 1.2 billion euro in 2008, according to the central bank of Albania, marking a positive balance of 140 million euro in the tourism sector.
The bank data also said that in 2008, Albanians spent 1.05 billion euro on traveling abroad, which is 14 percent more than the amount they spent in 2007.
The increase in revenue came mainly from a higher number of foreign visitors to the country, as well as the slight growth in their average daily spending.
