Location: The rooftop of Shtepia Bardhe – a beautiful spot for a sunny day in the park!

Pranvera is so beautiful and soft, that each year again I fall in love with her. Maybe it’s because, she didn’t show up that often to keep me warm in my own country where coldness rules and clouds fight over who to keep the sun away from me. Maybe it is because her warmth makes my body feel strong and energetic, my thoughts soft, my dreams exotic. Maybe because she paints a smile on the face of the Roma kids I see playing in the streets. Maybe, because she can for one second take away all sadness, suffering and coldness in so many peoples’ lives.

But suddenly I wake up and realize that unfortunately the one second is over again, unfortunately my voice didn’t seem to be heard. Unfortunately, my inbox stayed empty. Unfortunately, nobody seemed to get inspired, nobody raised its voice!

Maybe we were to busy listening to politicians raising their voices for future votes, maybe people couldn’t hear me cause of generators and honking cars, maybe pollution drowned their ears, maybe distracted by day-dreams of the new Porsche and Hummer, or the short skirt, tall gansta’ boy passing by in the Block, maybe a new old military site being blown up, or to busy being experts in everything, passionate discussion issues you never even thought about?

All reasons not to hear, but when will you listen? When will you listen to yourself? When will you realize that you can change so much more and can achieve so many more dreams?

And so I hang around in the sun and decide that I will remain speaking up, but while staring away, staring away from the passive beast, dreaming of your beauty, hoping for the moment when you cry out – MJAFT?

In Albania stories of how it shouldn’t be, arise in such a high speed that your head would explode if you try to remember them all.

As fast as illegal apartment blocks arise and sun is taken out of our rooms where women are being oppressed.

As fast as streets are paved to let drunk cars drive like madmen without rule of law.

As fast as businesses are illegally being established, not wanting to pay taxes.

As fast as the most willing and hottest girls turn from party animals into super stars, boys and men illegally need to migrate to find a better future, leaving mothers and children behind.

As fast as clothing and basic medical supplies mend for the poorest of your country end up in customs officers’ cars heading to the market.

As fast as your teachers hit your children, exclude Roma and disabled from their school yards.

As fast as toilets at schools in remote areas break down, toys disappear out of orphanage shelters into the houses of the staff.

As fast as nurses let you pay extra, send you to the store to get medicines and blankets for your family.

As fast as doctors stay away from mountain villages, taking their pay check for having showed up there.

And as fast as politicians especially in times of election, make and break promises to make this country better.

That’s how fast Albania is developing itself!

But the question is; Beauty, or Beast?

Is this what do you want, I ask myself? What do you want I ask myself?

Don’t you want a better educational system, functioning health care system, safe roads, don’t you want your families to stay together, your children to be protected, the most vulnerable to be taken care of?

Don’t you want to be part of a democracy, make a change, improve your country, and better your living?

YES IT CAN, eyes on the future, the past is the past, this is the moment and it all starts here and now with you!

So let your heart speak, explore your opportunities, fight for freedom, fight for love and let us know!

Cfare deshironi? Cfare do besh? Hajde!
