TIRANA, Feb. 17 – The owner of Albania’s Taci Oil, Rezart Taci has bought Alsat private television station for an undisclosed sum from VEVE Group, the local media reported.
Satellite Albanian Television station Alsat broadcasts in Albanian for an audience of 10 million in Albania and other European countries.
Taci Oil is the country’s largest oil importer, also owing Credit Bank of Albania.
Taci has been well known in the last year for his alleged efforts in buying Italian football clubs. First he said he had bought a majority stake in Serie A club Bologna. In July he said he paid 43 million Euros to buy 80 percent of the club, adding that the acquisition could serve as a “window of opportunity” for talented Albanian players.
Then he forgot it, for reasons still unclear.
Then there were rumors that Taci was prepared to purchase Milan for 700 million Euros. That also proved untrue.
Taci was also known last year for his beating of a journalist who was critical of him. He is still on trial.
Taci Oil International is part of a U.S.-Swiss consortium that last year bought 85 percent of state oil company ARMO with 128.6 million Euros.
