TIRANA, June 28 – Albanian police are making progress in the fight against drug trafficking, not only in the country but also abroad– in collaboration with their counterparts. Albanian police arrested Altin Kore, 34, who is a suspect of a drug ring connected with Mexico. He lived in Dallas, Texas until 2007 and then came to Albania to continue the collaboration with the mafia link. He has been wanted in the US since 2009 and was arrested recently at the Rinas International Airport during a return trip from Turkey. Kore is expected to be extradited to the US. In another operation, police in Tirana seized 4 kilograms of cannabis sativa and arrested two persons suspected of drug trafficking. Sand철Refit Dapaj, 32, and Margarit Piro Dado, 27, are accused of producing and trading drugs. The drugs were found in their car– packed and ready to be sold. Dashamir Luan Shemshiri, 27, was arrested also in Tirana after an arrest warrant was issued in connection to drug trafficking charges.
