TIRANA, July 22 – Prosecutors asked life imprisonment for Viktor Gushi, a bank robber who killed one jewelry owner and a cashier in two different robberies, and wounded others.
Gushi was accused of 18 charges, the worst of which are the death of jewelry owner Rrapo Sinanaj, and bank cashier Leonora Kaloci earlier this year.
Gushi had repented his murders during the trial.
The prosecutor said that Gushi committed the crimes like trying to fulfill his gambling addiction and that he was a very high public risk. The prosecutor asked he be sentenced to the capital punishment, the life sentence.
In two years Gushi became the terror of banks, exchange bureaus and other businesses, until he was caught by the police in March.
The verdict is expected in September.
