TIRANA, Feb. 22 – Lebanon’s Parliament Speaker Nabih Berri held a visit to Tirana last week in an effort to strengthen the ties with the tiny western Balkan country.
Berri met with his Albanian counterpart Ilir Meta in the country to talk on how to improve ties with Tirana in terms of trade and transport agreements.
He also met with President Bujar Nishani and Prime Minister Edi Rama.
“Lebanon and Albania will work with the European Union and the Arab League to promote Arab-European partnership,” said Berri.
He pledged to urge Lebanese investors come to the European country.
“This visit is an opportunity to inform the officials in this country about the image of the political landscape in the Middle East, which suffers from a fierce terrorist attack on its various countries, including Lebanon,” Berri said.
The two countries agreed on expanding bilateral relations at the parliamentary, governmental and economic levels, in addition to the situation in the region.
Tirana’s visit was part of a tour that had also taken him to Kuwait and Iran.
