TIRANA, July 15 – Albania’s opposition leader, Tirana Mayor Lulzim Basha, has continued his tour around the country as the Democratic Party continues to hold internal elections amid growing internal conflict.
The local press reported growing internal frictions in the main opposition party during the election of new leaders, after losing in the parliamentary elections held last year.
Basha took over last year after the resignation of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha as party head.
Basha and other senior leaders of the Democrats have daily come out to show the failures of the governing Socialist Party of Prime Minister Edi Rama, especially after they claimed successes following 300 days in power. The Democrats say the country is poorer, less secure.
