TIRANA, July 7 – European Integration Minister Klajda Gjosha said Tuesday that the government had created two new structures in its efforts of approximation with the standards of the European Union.
Albania was granted the EU candidate status last year and it wants to launch full membership talks later this year.
Gjosha said that the network of the European integration units and that of the legislation compilation units were of fundamental importance in the process of integration.
They will assure the next steps toward integration are kept in line with the requirements of the EU standards.
Gjosha also said that the staff working with these units will also have special financial treatment, meaning higher salaries, in efforts to create a new administration in line with the EU.
She did not say, however, what that meant in concrete figures or terms.
Putting the administration in line with EU standards is a top priority and a challenge for Albania.
