TIRANA, July 28 – The Albanian parliament wrapped up its work for the session with the approval of a draft law on tourism, postponing a bill for road traffic law enforcement for September.

The draft law on tourism was the main topic of the political debate this week. The government said it would invigorate tourism in the country, while the opposition said it would favor government-friendly businesses over others, inhibiting competition.

The parliament will resume work in September, when it is very likely to be focused on the judiciary reform.

Prime Minister Edi Rama has said the justice reform would be completed this autumn, after a draft is being prepared and will be considered by the Venice Commission.

Justice has been post-communist Albania’s Achilles’ heel hampering much of its progress in all areas.

Albania was granted the EU candidate status last year, and Rama has said they the country will ask for the full membership talks to be launched next year, after completing the justice reform.
