TIRANA, Sept. 16 – About 85 percent of Albanian youths are interested of leaving the country for greener pastures, a civil society report released this week shows.

The survey, conducted in 2014, showed 60 percent, are interested ‘a lot’ in emigrating, 17 percent are ‘somewhat’ interested and 9 percent are ‘a little’ interested. Only 15 percent are not interested ‘at all.’

The same survey conducted in 2011 showed that the numbers of those who are very interested in leaving the country have jumped from 43 to 60 percent, showing a deterioration of prospects for youths in the past three years.

The survey, which quizzed 1,200 youths from across Albania, aged 16-27, was conducted by FES Albania and Idra.
