Albanian journalists join regional anti-corruption coalition

TIRANA, Dec. 6 – The Albanian Journalists Union has joined a coalition of the media outlets in southeastern Europe involved in the fight against corruption.

That is part of the support to the whistle blowers that have turned into a big headache to the public institutions, governments and also private companies and corporations worldwide.

That is a new initiative in southeastern Europe that also intends to protect the whistle blowers from being sacked from their jobs or criminally or civically taken to the courts.

That was the main topic of the meeting of some 20 media institutions and also journalists taking part in Belgrade.

The coalition is made up of the media organizations from ten countries: Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania and Serbia.

They will take care of the whistleblowers so that they are treated fairly and that also their products bring positive impacts on the societies. That will also urge governments and private businesses be more accountable to the public.
