Finance Minister Denaj: French entrepreneurs, welcome in Albania

“Albania offers many opportunities for French investors to use and increase their presence in the sector of production, energy, tourism, infrastructure, agriculture and in particular in the field of information technology,” was the declaration of the Minister of Finance and Economy, Anila Denaj, during an official visit to France, thereby inviting all French entrepreneurs to increase investments in Albania.

Denaj praised the assistance of the French government, as well as the cooperation so far between the two countries.

“Economic relations have had a positive growth and reflect excellent bilateral relations. Economic cooperation, referring to potential opportunities, needs to be enlivened and intensified with concrete actions and actions. We have a comprehensive legal framework that promotes and supports economic cooperation and direct investment. We are grateful for the assistance of the French government for the development of the health, cultural and educational sectors and, most recently, the renewable energy sector.”

She added that the promotion of institutional cooperation is very important, especially in the exchange of experiences and information in the economic field and the successful implementation of European legislation and integration processes.

Successful models of vocational education in the field of innovation and information technology in France, as well as those of the development of centers for innovative businesses and start-ups, are of high interest to Albania, especially in the framework of finalizing the new draft law on start innovative up-ups in the country.

During her visit to France, Denaj had a meeting with Agnès Pannier-Runacher, Minister for Industry at the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Recovery and the newly elected President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Odile Renaud-Basso, to discuss joint priorities of Albania and the EBRD in the region and the progress of ongoing projects.

France is ranked as the 5th most important investor with 281 million euros, while in terms of investment stock it is ranked 8th with 1,033 million euros.

According to the data of the National Commercial Register (BCC January 2020) there are 126 French businesses operating mainly in Tirana, in the field of wholesale and retail trade; in the field of information and communication; accommodation and food service; construction, professional and scientific activities, etc.
